Dr. Zoe Shelden D.C.
Dr. Zoe shares the passion she has for the power of chiropractic with every person she meets and every patient she treats. She believes that chiropractic is for everyone, from newborns to grandparents, alike. Chiropractic is about aligning the spine, removing interference in the nervous system, and improving the mind-body connection to feel the best you can feel and perform to the maximum of your abilities.
Dr. Zoe always knew she wanted to help people through healthcare from a young age. She found her way to a career in chiropractic when seeking chiropractic care in middle school to help with headaches and sports-related injuries. She began realizing that the fastest way to feel better wasn’t through pain relievers but through adjustments and acupuncture. After pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology at KU which she finished at Cleveland University-Kansas City, she went on to receive her Doctor of Chiropractic at Cleveland Chiropractic College. It was during this time that her interest in a family practice blossomed. She has a special interest in pediatric and prenatal chiropractic as well as women’s health. For this reason, Dr. Zoe spent her “free” time throughout chiropractic school seeking additional training through the ICPA (International Chiropractic Pediatrics Association) in order to better manage care for pediatrics and women’s health. She is also certified in Webster Technique through the ICPA 200-Hour Seminar Series and has taken the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association 300-hour course to specialize in treating your child.
It was also during this time that Dr. Zoe took an interest in nutrition. After dealing with some medical problems that weren’t responding to conventional medicine, she took it upon herself to adopt a paleo diet, seek care from a DC practicing functional medicine, and exercise with a purpose. She educated herself on matters regarding food and how it relates to inflammation in the body, food related to chronic disease processes, and supplementation. Her training through the ICPA complemented this education as well as more than 250 hours of nutrition courses throughout her graduate school coursework. It is through this work, coupled with chiropractic, that literally brings life back to people—either in their bodies or in conceiving new life. Dr. Zoe practices the Schaefer Protocol that has helped countless couples conceive naturally who had been struggling with “infertility” issues prior. Schaefer protocol is a holistic approach to regaining and maintaining health utilizing the science of epigenetics, which focuses on understanding how your environment changes and how your body expresses different genes within your body. Therefore, health exists when our physical, chemical, and emotional well-being is in harmony.
Dr. Zoe is also proficient in acupuncture after completing 100 hours in Meridian Therapy through the Acupuncture Society of America. She has additional training in chiropractic techniques including Diversified, Instrument-Assisted Adjusting, Thompson, and Sacro-Occipital Techniques.
In her free time, she enjoys training for half-marathons, swimming, traveling, and spending time with her friends and family. She believes we all need more time relaxing and laughing.
Dr. Rachel Francis D.C.
Dr. Rachel can’t remember life without chiropractic care, and feels privileged to accompany patients on their journey to being their best selves. As the daughter of two chiropractors, Dr. Rachel spent her early days reciting the names of bones while getting ready for school, and her young adulthood admiring her parents as their patients from all walks of life found pain relief and well-being with the help of chiropractic care. After studying Pre-medicine and Theology at the University of Notre Dame, she spent a year working as a food pantry manager at a church in Portland, Oregon, where she largely served clients experiencing homelessness. That experience reinforced the power of meaningful conversations, nourishing food, and healing touch. While she explored other career options, Dr. Rachel always felt most connected to chiropractic, and soon returned to school to get her Doctor of Chiropractic at National University of Health Sciences. Dr. Rachel is originally from Plymouth, Wisconsin – the cheese capital of the world! She is excited to spend this chapter of her life in Omaha with her fiance, who just started his medical residency at University of Nebraska Medical Center.
Hippocrates said it best… “Health is not merely the absence of disease. It is the balance of mind, body, and soul.” The tools of modern medicine can and should co-exist with trust in our own bodies and their ability to heal and thrive. You deserve to feel empowered and energized in all stages of your life; Dr. Rachel uses chiropractic care and nutrition to meet patients where they are at and support them in their health and lifestyle goals. Dr. Rachel is especially passionate about women’s health, supporting pregnant patients, and loves working with kiddos. She is certified in the Webster Technique, and looks forward to pursuing further training in perinatal and pediatric care. Dr. Rachel adores being outside, whether it is hiking, biking, or laughing on a porch with loved ones. If she isn’t outdoors, you can find her doing yoga, making a (hopefully delicious) mess in the kitchen, or seeking out a new coffee shop to try.
